DESCRIPTION: Duncan apparently began a diary in this notebook, kept it for only a short time, and later tore the pages out. A small portion of the rest of the notebook he used for notes about prayers. Most of it is empty.
DATE SPAN: 05/21/1876 - 12/02/1885
DESCRIPTION: Two bound diaries of medium-size format. Occasioned apparently by the construction of a new church building for St. Mary's, Duncan commenced a diary, beginning with a summary of what had been going in their Residence for the preceding several years. Duncan wrote with more color than many Jesuit diarists, and commented upon politics, schooling, and vacations, as well as commenting quite astutely on the weather.
DATE SPAN: 01/27/1891 - 07/31/1893
DESCRIPTION: Two notebooks similar to preceding. Recounts move from Boston to Georgetown.
DATE SPAN: 03/02/1858 - 01/01/1871
DESCRIPTION: Duncan was named guardian of two minors, the Harrises, following the death, apparently, of Margaret Harris. There are two ledgers here pertaining to plantation management and guardianship, and several promissory notes from a relative of Duncan, perhaps his brother.
DATE SPAN: 11/10/1855 - 02/25/1860
DESCRIPTION: Ledger of estate settlement, Lowndes, Co., Alabama, 1860. The plantation grew cotton and had slaves, some of whom were distributed in the settlement.
